An Exploration of Digital Painting and Design.
For some time now I have been wanting to explore my digital painting into more advanced levels. One night I was drawing (instead of sleeping) with no particular idea of what to draw and came across an image of an MC named Dessa of the Minnesota hip hop collective, Doomtree. I've been a big fan of her music for some time now and decided to take the pens out to see what i could do. After completing the drawing, I knew it would make a perfect candidate for my next digital painting endeavor.
An artist I really admire named Erik Jones (TheIrisOn) has a really amazing mixed media style. After looking through his work for some technical help on the painting side, I decided to explore and push shape as well in this piece, making it a mix of strong contrasting shape and traditional soft painting. I worked on this piece throughout my breaks @ job for about a week or so, slowly hacking away @ it on my free time. Eventually I completed the colors and was pleased with the end result.
